How to play Plokk without filling the board too soon

Plokk is a turn-based block puzzle game about space management. You are not racing a timer. The best runs come from patient placement, clean lanes, and knowing when to trade a small score now for more room later.

Core Rules

Place every offered block

Each turn gives you a small set of block shapes. Drag a piece onto any empty grid spaces that match its shape. A piece can only be placed when every square fits.

Clear rows and columns

Complete a full horizontal row or vertical column to clear it from the board. Clearing space is the heart of long runs because the board never resets during a game.

Plan for awkward shapes

Straight pieces, corners, squares, and larger shapes all need different pockets. Keep a mix of open lanes and compact spaces so the next turn has options.

Use power-ups with intent

Power-ups are strongest when they prevent a dead end, rescue a blocked lane, or set up a high-value combo. Spending one early can be worth it if it keeps the run alive.

A Good First Run

First 10 moves

Keep the center useful. Avoid scattering single empty cells that cannot fit common shapes.

Middle game

Build near-complete rows and columns together so one placement can clear more than one lane.

Late game

Protect one large open area. A single safe pocket can buy the extra turn that starts a comeback.
